Established in 1979, Discovery Tree School is well known for its progressive and developmental approach to learning. We believe that all children go through predictable stages in their physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth. However, each child is an individual, and progresses through each stage at different rates, and at different ages. Our curriculum encourages this uniqueness by offering multi-age groupings, a stimulating, hands-on environment, and by allowing children to make their own choices. This playful, explorative time is balanced with a teacher-directed small group time, as well as circle time. At Discovery Tree School, we never underestimate the power of child's play!

Children need (and deserve) adults in their environment who respect their ability to create, make decisions, and function independently.

Our staff has achieved a level of education and training in Early Childhood Education that far exceeds state licensing requirements. Just as importantly, the Discovery Tree School staff shares a commitment to our developmental philosophy as well as a deep understanding of the importance of these early years. We strive to provide for every child the opportunity to develop problem-solving skills, tolerance, creativity and a strong sense of self.
